Fort Bragg personnel contacted U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to review mitigation opportunities on a drained lake within the Fort Bragg Army Base. USACE contracted with SEPI to help develop a mitigation plan for the site. SEPI reviewed and evaluated wetlands, streams, and vegetation on the site and provided a cost analysis to compare mitigation costs with other options including mitigation banks and the state in-lieu fee program. The site has potential restoration potential of 6,000-LF of stream and 25-acres of wetland. SEPI assisted with the regulatory approvals and stream and wetland restoration design. SEPI delineated and surveyed wetlands and streams on the site and performed functional assessments of on-site aquatic features using the NCWAM method for wetlands and groundwater gauges. Vegetation surveys and stream morphology surveys were also completed.
