Under our Limited Services Agreement, SEPI was contracted to provide full design survey services for this 6.4-mile roadway project from SR 1521 to the Virginia state line. This project required following NCDOT survey guidelines and providing NCDOT specific deliverables. SEPI was responsible for aerial photogrammetric survey services including installation of 79 aerial photo control panels and survey by GNSS NCRTK methods and classification of aerial photography. Project survey control involved establishing 22 project survey control points and survey by GNSS methods with two 2.5-hour observation sessions on each control point. In addition, conventional horizontal and vertical control were performed across the project site. Property related services included property owner identification and notification for 76 parcels, property research, and property ties. The roadway baseline traverse extended 41,000-LF; pavement surveying for DTMs amounted to 36,000 LF. Obscure areas requiring topographic survey totaled 28 acres. SEPI also performed hydrographic surveying involving 11,000-LF of stream surveys. The railroad surveys required coordinating right-of-entry and railroad flagging with Norfolk Southern Railroad and detailed topographic surveying and mapping along 1,000-LF of rail.
