The City of Durham was one of nine cities selected to bring faster internet service to the Triangle. SEPI was chosen to monitor installation of trunk cable lines and individual residential cable drops. SEPI will be monitoring hundreds of miles of fiber optic cable installations and as many as 25 utility crews at the peak of operations; and coordinating between contractors, private property owners, and the City of Durham officials on conditions in the field and concerns of the citizens. SEPI technicians will prepare daily reports, verify that city permits are in compliance, and document daily construction observation of work performed by fiber optic utility contractors. Staff will utilize City of Durham’s Primavera Contract Management (PCM) and Daily Reporting (PDXR) software to summarize daily activities with real time information on operations, maintain a photo journal, and report time assigned to the project. SEPI is responsible for reviewing and reporting that work is done in accordance with approved environmental, traffic control, and right-of-way encroachment permits. Some material testing inspection may also be necessary.
