The City of Charlotte selected SEPI as the project surveyor to identify the existing right-of-way for E. 5th Street, North Caldwell Street, East Trade Street, Elizabeth Avenue & Hawthorne Lane for the design and development of the streetcar. The route covered and area of 12 city blocks and the length of 1.5 miles. GPS was used for control on this project. Extensive research for deeds, plats and other pertinent information to re-establish the street right-of-way at the County Register of Deeds office, City Departments, North Carolina Department of Transportation and local surveyors was performed. Locations consisted of all parcels along the route were completed surveyed, curb alignments, sidewalks and other noted ties were surveyed. During locations other requests were performed such as utility verification as to horizontal and vertical accuracy, bore hole placement and locations. An AutoCAD base map was produced specifically to the City of Charlotte CAD Standards indicating all pertinent locations to the established right-of-way. In addition 13 easement plats were generated to indicate additional right-of-way expansion, storm drainage alterations, and temporary construction easements.
